From 1 July 2012, no solarium for cosmetic purposes may be offered to persons under the age of 18 years.

The 18-year age limit was introduced because the use of tanning equipment increases the risk of skin cancer, and the risk is greatest if you start at a young age and use such equipment frequently.

From 1 January 2017, all companies and organisations offering solarium must have a satisfactory age control system which ensures that only those above the age of 18 years may access the solariums.
