The Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) is the responsible authority for radiation from solariums in Norway, and the solariums are regulated by the Regulations on Radiation Protection and Use of Radiation (Radiation Protection Regulations). There are several requirements in the regulations that you, as a distributor or importer of solariums, have to comply with.

Veileder til solarieforhandlere og importører” (“Veileder 4”, in Norwegian only) describes the requirements in the regulations for you, and we recommend that solarium distributors and importers read this thoroughly.

Which requirements must distributors and importers comply with?

Requirements for the user’s manual

Every solarium must be equipped with a user’s manual in Norwegian, and the contents must be in accordance with the Regulations on Radiation Protection and Use of Radiation and the European Standard EN 60335-2-27. The user’s manual must give clear instructions on how to use the device correctly. In addition, it must inform that no persons other than the actual user of the solarium, and especially not children, may be present in the room when the solarium is turned on. Furthermore, the user’s manual must contain a recommended exposure schedule. Guideline “Veileder til solarieforhandlere og importører” (in Norwegian only) gives a more detailed description of the required contents of the user’s manual.
