The regulations for radiation protection and the use of radiation came into effect on 1 January 2004. Under the provisions of these regulations, authority was delegated to the municipalities to carry out inspections of artificial tanning equipment and to implement the necessary measures.
National regulations regarding radiation protection and the use of artificial tanning devices in Norway are detailed in the following guidelines: “Instructions to owners of sunbeds and enterprises offering sun tanning sessions” and “Instructions for dealers and importers of artificial tanning devices”. The guidelines are only available in Norwegian.
The Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) assumes that all local authority employees understand Norwegian and thus the web pages “Informasjon til kommunale tilsynsmyndigheter” are not fully translated into English here. We encourage local inspection authorities to make active use of these web pages, and to stay up to date on the newsletters and other news items that are published there. Questions concerning current regulations and requirements may be directed to the DSA.
